| Prices - What's Included? |
Prices include accommodation and all local and state taxes, but do not include compulsory local charges for resort facilities, health club or sports equipment hire, and room safes (amongst other items) levied by some hotels (mainly in Florida where they are referred to as Resort Fees). Where there are other inclusions e.g. breakfast this is detailed along with the hotel description.
We reserve the right to change our prices. However when a booking is confirmed and full payment has been received, our price is then guaranteed. During Trade Fairs or major Conventions, Sporting Events or important local holidays we may only have access to hotel rooms at higher prices.
Our prices normally represent considerable savings over the hotels' published tariffs, with the exception of National Parks and Disney accommodation, where high demand means that minimal discounts are available. Although unlikely, hotels may occasionally advertise promotional prices locally, which when the prevailing exchange rate is applied, may work out lower. We regret that no refunds can be made in these circumstances.
| |
| Fees - No Hidden Extras |
Travel A La Carte.com does not charge booking fees. We accept Mastercard, Visa, Switch, Delta. Payment by cheque is also accepted. We do reserve the right to change this as we are charged commission by the credit card companies and we have no control over their prices.
| |
| Payment |
For telephone bookings more than 8 weeks in advance, a deposit of 20 per cent is required for hotel bookings. The balance must be paid 8 weeks before departure. Failure to pay the balance may result in your booking being cancelled and charges being applied. For bookings made within 8 weeks of departure, full payment is due at the time of booking. Bookings with a value less than £250 must be paid in full at the time of booking. Internet bookings are normally charged in full at the time of the booking. |
| |
| Reservations/Overbookings |
Travel A La Carte.com Ltd will only confirm hotels to you when we have a confirmed reservation from our suppliers. In most cases the hotels do not require or receive our Rooming List with your names until a few days before your arrival – so don’t panic if you call the hotel a few weeks before your arrival and the hotel does not have you listed. This is normal practise with most hotel reservations companies. Hotels operate like airlines when it comes to overbooking. It happens, but thankfully very rarely. Travel A La Carte.com guarantees and / or prepays all of the reservations we make to minimise the risk of this happening to any of our customers.

| Hotel Information |
| General |
Here are some general tips which may help you select the type of hotel to suitsyour needs. Room sizes - hotel room sizes in major cities are normally smaller than elsewhere. This is particularly true in New York, London, Rome, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Vienna, Paris and London. Locations - In America "downtown" generally means the business district and is therefore not the same as "central", e.g central in New York is midtown. In many European cities the 2 and 3 star hotels are located near the main railway station. In some cases these areas have also been the centre of one of the world's oldest professions and tend to attract related types of business.
| Pricing |
Hotel prices like everything else are a reflection of demand. A high price maynot always mean that you are getting a fantastic hotel! It may mean that there is a major event of trade fair taking place at the time you want to go. 4 and 5 star hotels are often cheaper in July and August as they rely more on business traffic. There is no official rating system for hotels in the North America.
| Ratings |
Ratings quoted by Hotel Travel A La Carte.com Ltd are those advised by our suppliers or taken from the Official Hotel Guide as an indication of the standard of the hotels. Star ratings criteria vary from country to country and again we have taken the ratings from our suppliers and\or from the Official Hotel Guide.
| Facilities |
The facilities described for the hotels are as described in the hotels own literature or in the "Official Hotel Guide". Hotels can and do add or remove facilities from time to time, and some facilities such as swimming pools are "seasonal" (Summer in the USA is usually taken to mean the period between Memorial Day, end of May to Labor Day, First Monday in September). Travel A La Carte.com will endeavour to supply you with up to date and accurate information, and to keep you informed of any changes which may materially affect your enjoyment. Where a particular facility or service is of key importance to you, the details should be confirmed by you directly with the hotel.
| Check in/out times |
Check in time at most hotels worldwide is from 15.00h on and Check out time is normally by 11.00h. Late arrival is not a problem since your room is guaranteed by Travel A La Carte.com Ltd, but you should let us know at the time of booking. Late check out times need to be requested directly with the hotel and may be subject to a charge by the hotel.
| Bedding |
The normal bedding in North American hotels is either two double beds or one "king-size". 3rd and 4th persons supplements paid to Travel A La Carte.com do not include extra beds for which there is normally a charge payable locally. Elsewhere bedding is either two twin beds or one double bed. Twin/Double rooms. Since hotels often have many more twin rooms than doubles, they might occasionally allocate a twin even though a double room is reserved. If a double bed is of paramount importance to you we suggest that you advise us of this and we will ensure that this is communicated to the hotel, although we cannot guarantee that this will be available. In many destinations and hotels, all double rooms are made up of two single beds pushed together and made up as a double bed.
| Special Requests |
Rooms at all hotels are reserved on a "run of the house" basis unless otherwise advertised, which means you will have a standard room in any part of the hotel. We are happy to pass on requests such as no smoking rooms, adjoining rooms etc, but please note that these are not guaranteed and no reservation will be accepted where meeting the special requests is a condition.
